Our Hand-Wash Station Services in Richmond

  • Sink-equipped toilet units. A small basin inside a portable enclosure serves that unit's user. Ask whether it has running water, soap and the capacity needed for expected use rather than assuming a sanitizer dispenser is a sink.
  • Freestanding wash stations. One or more basins can serve a toilet cluster or another approved location. Confirm fresh-water and wastewater tanks, the number of faucets, paper and soap provisions.
  • Food-vendor washing. Richmond's temporary-event vendor guidance calls for warm running water, soap, paper towels and a waste bucket at the vendor's hand-washing facility. A cold-water station beside the toilets may not fulfill that separate need.
  • Construction lavatories. OSHA's construction rule calls for hot and cold or tepid running water at lavatories, with specified mobile-crew and unattended-site exceptions.
  • Refills and winter operation. Agree on water, soap, towels, waste removal and extra visits. Ask how fresh water stays usable during a hard freeze.

Signs Your Site Needs More Hand-Washing Capacity

  • Food vendors need an available washing facility during service
  • Workers handle paint, coatings or other potentially harmful contaminants
  • Existing sinks are too far from the active crew or event area
  • Toilet clusters lack a convenient place to wash on exit
  • A station runs dry or out of soap before the next scheduled visit

How Hand-Wash Station Rental Works

  1. Describe the activity. Give the Richmond-area address, dates, expected users, number of toilets and whether food preparation or regulated construction work is involved.
  2. Choose the setup. Your rental contact discusses sink-equipped units versus separate stations, faucet count, water temperature, waste collection and the exact placement authority.
  3. Agree on supplies. Review fresh-water fills, pumping, soap, towels, extra service, delivery, pickup and the price before the rental starts.
  4. Monitor during use. Keep the station accessible, watch water and supplies, and report an empty or frozen unit before it stops meeting the site's need.

What Affects Hand-Wash Station Rental Cost in Richmond

The quote depends on the equipment and the refill workload:

  • Sink inside a toilet or separate unit. These provide different capacity and serve different positions on the site.
  • Number of faucets. PSAI's special-event chart starts with one station for 1 to 10 toilets and adds stations as clusters grow.
  • Fresh-water and waste capacity. More users or a long event may need extra fills and pumping.
  • Temperature and supplies. Warm-water needs for food vendors or tepid-water needs at a construction lavatory require the appropriate actual model.
  • Service access. A gated booth, remote field or freezing-weather plan can change delivery and refill work.

For hand-wash stations, one of our local portable restroom partners will walk you through the scope and the price before any work starts. The porta potty rental cost guide explains related quote factors.

Why Choose Fan District Restrooms for Wash Stations

  • Calls answered 24/7. Describe an upcoming event or a station that stopped working, and you'll hear the service timing on the call.
  • Use determines equipment. A cold foot-pump station is not silently substituted for a food vendor's warm-water setup.
  • Toilet count considered. The wash-station plan follows the event's actual unit arrangement and users.
  • Consumables named. Soap, towels, water and wastewater service belong in the rental discussion.
  • Site access checked. The refill vehicle must be able to reach the station throughout the rental.

Hand-Washing Rules and Supplies Before You Call

The PSAI special-event standard pairs one hand-wash station with 1 to 10 portable toilets, two with 11 to 20, and one additional station for each further 10. Each station in that chart has at least one faucet. This is event planning guidance; food preparation and employment rules can call for a different setup.

Richmond's health-district vendor checklist requires warm running water under pressure or gravity flow, soap, paper towels and a way to catch wastewater. OSHA's construction lavatory rule specifies hot and cold or tepid running water, soap and hand-drying supplies, subject to its exceptions. Hand sanitizer is useful between washes but does not replace required running water. Ask what the actual rented model delivers and how water is kept usable in winter.

The Virginia Department of Health notes that event coordinators often provide toilets and washing stations for temporary food vendors; ask who supplies each facility here.

Sink Units and Hand Wash Stations FAQs

Does a portable hand-wash station need a water hookup?

Many freestanding stations carry fresh water and collect used water in separate tanks, so they need no site hose or drain. Models vary, so ask for the actual specifications. Your rental contact should state who fills the clean tank, removes wastewater and restocks supplies. A self-contained station can still run empty before the scheduled visit if use is heavy.

Can hand sanitizer replace a hand-wash station?

Not where a rule calls for washing. Richmond food vendors need a warm running-water setup under the health-district guidance, and OSHA specifies running water for construction lavatories with stated exceptions. At a private gathering without those activities, sanitizer can be an added convenience. Check the real use before dropping a sink.

Should washing stations stand by toilets or by food?

They may be needed in both places for different users. PSAI's event chart pairs stations with toilet facilities, while a food vendor must have a suitable hand-washing facility available during preparation and service. A unit beside distant toilets may be too far from the booth. Mark both intended positions on the event map before booking.

Who refills a hand-wash station during a long event?

The rental agreement should name the routine service visits, fresh-water refills, soap and towel restocking, and wastewater removal. A crowded all-day event can exhaust a tank before the next visit, so designate a site contact to watch supplies. Ask how to request and price an extra visit, and keep the service vehicle's route open.

Is cold water enough for a Richmond food booth?

Do not assume it is. The Richmond City Health District's temporary-event guidance calls for warm running water, soap, paper towels and wastewater collection at the vendor's washing facility. A cold foot-pump station for guests may serve another purpose but may not meet that booth requirement. Confirm the proposed model with the health district.
